Arrival Addis Ababa (Bole International Airport)

Arrive in Addis Ababa; you will be welcomed by Remarkable Ethiopia Tours staff members. For morning flight arrivals you may start your tour after checking into your hotel.  For afternoon or evening arrivals, you may start your tour the following day.

Day 1,Addis Ababa - Arba Minch

Drive to Arba Minch via Hoseana. En route visit Melka Kunture, a stone-age archeological site; Adadi Mariam, a 12th century rock- hewn church; and Tiya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its mysterious stelae, thought to be grave markers, dating from the 12th century. Overnight Lodge (B, L, D)

Day 2,Arba Minch

Take a boat trip on Lake Chamo and view some of the largest crocodiles in the world sunning on the banks of the lake; hippopotami and beautiful aquatic birds are also abundant. Visit Nechisar Park, known for its “white grass” which is only accessible via boat. Overnight Lodge (B, L, D)

Day 3,Arba Minch - Jinka

Drive to Jinka via Key Afar and visit the weekly market (Thursdays only) and wander among the various tribes such as the Benna and Ari that have gathered to barter their goods. Continue to Jinka. Overnight Lodge (B, L, D)

Day 4,Mago National Park

This morning drive to a Mursi tribal village. The tribe is renowned for the now-uncommon custom of their women, upon reaching maturity, having their lower lips slit and circular clay discs inserted. Return back to Jinka for lunch. In the afternoon you will visit one of omo valley tribe called the Ari village. Overnight Lodge (B, L, D)

Day 5,Jinka - Turmi

Drive to Dimeka to visit the colorful Hamer tribe. They are well known for their remarkable hairstyles made of ochre, water, and binding resin, resulting in copper-colored locks. This is a sign of wealth for this tribe. The Hamers are also considered the masters of body decoration. Continue to the town of Turmi. Overnight Lodge (B, L, D)

Day 06 ,Omorate Excursion( Hammer , Karo, Dasnich )

Turmi is our new base as we explore the region and meet the different tribes who share this valley but live a life uniquely their own. Drive to the Murulle area. Murile lies on the banks of the Omo River, and is a popular base for exploring this area. The two main tribes who live here are the Karo and the Hamer, both of whom practice scarification and have elaborate hairstyles. The Karo are experts in body painting, using clays and locally available vegetable pigments to trace fantastic patterns on their faces, chests, arms and legs. These designs have no special symbolic significance but instead are created for fun and aesthetic effect, as each artist tries to outdo another. Karo men also sculpt and shave their hair into extravagant shapes, with special ochre "caps" of hair usually containing several ostrich feathers. Overnight Lodge (B, L, D)

Day 07 ,Turmi - Konso

On the return drive to Konso visit the Arbore tribe who are known for herding cattle and depend on plant cultivation for their basic food. Konso recently designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. A highland people, the Konso are known for the ancient and intricate terraces that encircle their well-planned villages. Overnight Lodge (B, L, D)

Day 08 ,Konso - Hawassa

Drive to the lakeside beautiful Hawassa city. En route, visit a Dorze Village in the Guge Mountains. The Dorze are known for their tall, beehive- shaped bamboo houses. If the base becomes infested with termites, the entire house can be lifted and moved to another location. Overnight Hotel (B, L, D)

Day 09 ,Hawassa - Bale Mountains

- Morning, Visit the daily fish market in Awassa and depart to Bale Mountains With its majestic boundaries, the Bale mountains are the only natural conservation site left in Africa preserving its unique flora and fauna with relatively undisturbed example of five vegetation zones and the longest afro alpine moor land in Africa in time for a leisurely afternoon hike, possibly spotting two endemic mammals that frequent the area: Menelik's Bushbuck and the Mountain Nyala. Birds in this area include the Blue-Winged Goose, the Spot-Breasted Lapwing, the Abyssinian Long Claw, the Wattled Ibis, the Black- Headed Siskin, Rouget’s Rail, and numerous other species Overnight Hotel (B, L, D)

Day 10 ,Bale Mountains - Addis Ababa

At the last day we have two options Option 1, fly back to Addis Option 2, Drive back to Addis Morning, Enjoy; your breakfast at your Hotel and Have a relaxing morning; then drive to the Airport (or dive to Addis Ababa via Langano) or Fly back to Addis Ababa. Take a rest and freshen up and shopping. In the Evening you will have a farewell Dinner program at one of the best traditional Restaurant in Addis Ababa; you will also experience an amazing traditional dancing then transfer out to Bole International Airport for your departure to home. . (B, L, D) End of Tour This itinerary is flexible and will likely change in order to coordinate visits with market days in the south, which is a great opportunity to mingle with the people, many of whom travel long distances on foot to attend.
